How looketh my league, Mortals?

Postby quietstorm » Sun Mar 06, 2005 8:29 pm

My Elizabethan English needs work. Hopefully my fantasy team doesn't.

We drafted this morning in a 6x6 league; OBP, K/BB, and the rest of the traditional 5x5 categories.

Here's a link to a rough copy of the draft results:

I'm the Wally Pipps. How do other teams look, and how do I look in comparison? (I think I did fairly well; but I'm clearly biased.)

You have great pitching. Lidge is a monster, and should have a great year. But I would keep an eye on Grienke. Sure, he had a great year last year as a rookie, but he does play for the Royals. I would watch him in his early outings to see if he'll be able to repeat.

The team looks pretty solid but a 3B a bit oomphier than Koskie might be a big help and, coincidentally, "Eberron Warforged" ( 8-o ) has a pair and, as far as SP is a bit thinner and, depending on the personality, maybe he'd bite on one of your SP or perhaps an SP/ RP combo which would, nonetheless, add to your team's overall strength. I'd try and offer Wood for Chavez and then maybe offer to toss in Foulke who hurts for saves when the Bosox win big a lot if he'll give up Rolen. Might be a stretch but if you can get one of those 3B for a good SP w/ issues, it would REALLY leave you sitting pretty.

Also, FWIW, Greinke just got SMOKED for 7ER and was leaving balls 'high in the zone'.

Good team, happy that Abreu dropped as far as you (s'pose that's at least partly the Bonds factor) and Wood in the 7th is a very good value pick. I notice that 'the franchise' picked three elite 2B's in a row (and another 2B eligible player in Figgins), he'll be looking to trade those to improve his poor pitching staff, however this is a huge gamble and if he can't get the pieces he wants you might well get one of them going cheap.

Looking back over those results, I think I should have taken a chance on Wright instead of going with Koskie; but, I agree with you about my 3B situation. I'm not at all satisfied with Koskie.
