NZF, you pulled the rug right out from under me 4 times during the draft--for Konerko, Andruw, Glaus, and Sweeney. Hopefully next time I'm in league with you you won't be picking next to me. :-D

That makes me feel better because both you and Cornbread did exactly the same to me in each of the first five rounds.

Santana, Beltre, Delgado, Lidge and Peavy. I was starting to think there was a conspiracy going on against hapless foreigners from down under. I felt I was maybe a round too early on my second, third and fourth picks, as a result.

Twice I was all set to grab my 3B, and twice you took him - both times when you already had 3B filled! It was Glaus and Uribe. I ended up with Corey Koskie :-P

were at 13 and counting - the league closes on the 13th and I fully expect a 16 team Michigan only league by then.

Should be a lot of fun.

I gathered you didn't have your happy face on when you started doubting my parentage.

I couldn't let Glaus fall any further and Uribe gave me the multi-position eligibility I needed. Look on the brightside, if Koskie stays healthy all year you'll have yourself a steal. If he doesn't, then I'll trade you Glaus after he's crushed 25 HR's before the All Star break, for Sheff.

I went ahead and plugged Rototime’s projections in for every team and here is what it came up with. I’m sure most of you used your own projections but I think this is an interesting way to gauge the teams.

I have R, HR, and RBI pretty close across the board. SB is a little more diverse with LBJ and Bloody nipples at the top and Corn and Kolb at the bottom. BA is a little harder to predict but I have Corn winning and NZF at the bottom. Wins also hard to predict but I wouldn't want to be Kolb's team in this category. K's come out with Erboes on top and NZF on the bottom. Saves can change a lot during the year but right now Kolb and TF look in great shape. Mustangs and Pogo not so much. I also have ERA and WHIP very tight with everyone.

Mr. Marley’s team surprised me when I plugged in Rototimes projections cause he came out the winner. He might be but I see a lot of players in his lineup that I don’t think will repeat last year and/or injury risks.

I give Corn the best chance but no team is a clear favorite IMO. He has some solid SP and a good lineup. SB and Saves might be a problem. He came out 2nd.

Truth be told I’m not a big fan of LBJ’s team but he came out near the top with the projections. Solid SP and he has a ton of SB. Power is his main problem. Saves could be sketchy if Cordero loses his job.

That comes to me. Expecting everyone in the league to be active and knowledgeable I decided to go with flexible and balanced lineup. Everything looks good to me even if the projections show me a little light on HR and RBI. Projections show be doing well in W, K, ERA and OK in WHIP. . I’ve got Schmidt and 4 question marks. If my SP works out as well as the projections, I am going straight to the casino. RP is also a problem.

Tribe-Fan is up next. He has a nice collection of hitters and is a little light on SB. RP are great. SP has some nice potential.

Kolb came out to be a team of highs and lows. Highs in Saves and RBI. Lows in SB and W.

Mustangs came out middle of the road in HR, RBI, BA, W and K. He was a little low in R and SB. He came out good in ERA and WHIP. SP could be his saving grace cause RP isn’t going to be.

NZF has nice power numbers but BA suffers. Pitching came out middle of the pack in everything but K’s where he came in last.

Big Leb's OHHHH's came out with an average offense and a below average starting staff.

Bloody Nipples has speed and BA on his side. Power numbers seem affected by this. His pitching ERA and WHIP came out hurting after C-Zam and Nathan.

Erboes offense came out by far the worst. Maybe he knows something we don’t? A strong staff saves him from the cellar.

Mtarail came out lacking in R and BA. Offensive was average otherwise. His biggest strengths were WHIP and W but neither was too high.

All in all it is interesting to look at but doesn’t mean a thing. Good luck everyone!

p.s. . If anyone wants the spreadsheet send me a PM or and email.

Yep, I have a couple steals guys on the bench that I'm willing to plug into the lineup if I can't deal for speed before the season starts (Byrnes and Izturis should be good for about 20 each). As far as starters, I hope I get a couple nice surprises and pluck one or two off the wire !+)

Good work Pogo and interesting final analysis.

What other variables did you use. For example how did you allow for the fact that some rosters are top heavy on hitting and others on pitching? Or have you just taken the teams on face value?

For the lineup I just went in the order that the hitters were picked and added up the positions and the DH. With the pitching it was a little more subjective cause some teams had alot more innings than others. I think the Yahoo limit is 1250 innings. I gave the teams some wiggle room and used 1300 innings. My basic rule of thumb was the first 5 SP selected and then RP until the team was near the limit. So team benches were not taken into effect.
