Beltran with the 7th pick! Tell me what you think.

I just finished my annual draft. I've been in the same league for 8 years so it's pretty competitive now. I had the 7th pick and somehow Beltran dropped to me. I'd like to know what you guys think of my team and any improvements I could make. 12-team, 5x5 Roto league. Round chosen is in brackets.

Getting Beltran with the 7th pick is insane. There is no way that he should drop that much. His statistics from last year would lead you to believe that he isn’t worth the number one pick but those numbers are deceiving. First off there is no way this guy is only a .267 hitter. Beltran has a great eye, great contact rate, improving hitting trends and great power. His expected batting average was .300 last year and he should hit near or above that this year. This will also cause his RBI and R totals to improve as the Mets offense is decent and should be very good as Wright and Reyes mature. I’d definitely take him number 1 because of his rare combination of power and speed. Finding steals is very difficult so to get 40 while still getting a premier power hitter is invaluable.

Your team is very good for a 12 team league, the only real problem I could see is batting average. You don't really have a guy that will spike that category for you and you have a bunch of power hitters with low batting averages.

I like the team! Burnett in round 10 was a steal, as was Figgins in round 13. Nice pitchers and a nice bench.

Only change I would make is Mondesi - he'll be starting the season on the DL, and I think you could get better value out of your util spot anyway.

Good job! ;-D
