every1 says the mets r good i think they will just becuse they got pedro and beltran pedro ptches 1 game outtaa every 5 what happens to those other 4 and 1 hitter does no win u 100 games
Haha, talk about a run-on sentence ..... anyways, both their lineup and rotation have a lot of potential.
Lineup:
1. Jose Reyes
2. Kazuo Matsui
3. Carlos Beltran
4. Mike Piazza
5. Cliff Floyd
6. Mike Cameron
7. Doug Mientkiewicz
8. David Wright
Rotation:
1. Pedro Martinez
2. Tom Glavine
3. Kris Benson
4. Steve Trachsel
5. Victor Zambrano
Everyone in that lineup with the exception of Mientkiewicz can hit the ball pretty darn well, and they'll be up their in run production for sure. And after Pedro, you're right, their isn't a stud, but all those starters have the potential to put down a sub-4 ERA.

Is that english?
But seriously, the Mets are better this year and should do better than they have been. They most certainly won't win 100 games and I don't think they'll make the playoffs either, but they should be above .500 and be in the running for the wildcard (at least until injuries- Reyes, Pedro) happen. The rotation is strong in depth but the bullpen was not addressed over the offseason. That is one of the biggest weaknesses IMO and the reason they won't go further.
Speaking of the Metropolitans...I picked up Victor Diaz via trade in a dynasty league. Lots of rumors about them maybe moving Floyd or Cameron. Any chance of Diaz getting enough PT to produce this season?
I think a Diaz/Valent platoon will be used if (when) Floyd gets hurt. This is also the platoon they'd use if Cameron gets traded but now that doesn't seem too likely. Also it's looking like Cameron will be ready by opening day or only miss a few games at worst so Diaz will most likely start the year in Norfolk.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
In the case of a Valent/Diaz platoon, I think that Diaz would eventually take over the duties completely. Valent isn't as good as he was last year - he might be the only guy on the roster that overachieved last year.
Also, I don't think the Mets relief corps are as bad as advertised. Looper has turned into the player all the scouts thought he'd be. Moreno strikes out a bunch of guys and those that don't strike out just ground out. I like Bartolome Fortunato for more than just his name - his slider/fastball combo is pretty good. Heath Bell is very, very good - I expect him to be one of the top set-up guys in the league this year.
What the Mets don't have is a quality left-handed reliever. They have Felix Heredia (ugh) and Pedro Feliciano competing for the role of lefty specialist. With the Braves and Marlins both loaded with lefties (Pierre, Delgado) or switch hitters (Chipper, Furcal, Estrada, Castillo), this could be important.
