Juan Uribe? One Year Wonder?

Will this guy repeat his numbers in 2005? What are his projected stats without Maggs and Lee. Will he be a top 10 - 2b or SS?

Its really hard to guess with him. He seems more like a product of their stadium like a Colorado player than anything else. He very well may repeat his numbers but he is going to frustrate you when they are on road trips.

.315 avg, 16 HR in 260 AB at home
.248 avg, 7 HR in 242 AB on the road.

Uribe had his breakout in his third year at age 25. If stadiums had something to do with it he would have broke out in Colorado two years ago. He will put up good numbers (Relative to secondbase) again this year, but he will be streaky and frustrate you as was stated.

He's a pretty bad player... gets caught stealing more than he actually is successful, which is rare, especially for a guy with 20 attempts. And he has a low OBA. But then again, the Sox traded for Pods so a bad OBA might not bother them for some reason. I guess he's worth a late pick, and playing him solely at home in a platoon with another player might be a good idea. On the road, he hits like he should be in AA.

I guess it depends on what type league you're in. In my straight AL league, I'd love to have him. After a mid season slump he hit very well the last third of the season. He will play everyday so he should get his ab's.

I think that he may continue to do well. I am not expecting the power out of him but he can play SS and 2B so he has some versatility for the middle IF and, even if his HR scale back a bit (and there's not really any reason to expect this, given his age...) he still is a very good player at both positions.

That being said, I have him behind M Giles and Nomar but, if he does well and Nomar appears durable, I'm hoping to get some trade value out of him. I agree that the SB are a challenge and, even though Guillen has indicated that the Sox are going to run, unless they spent all winter working on technique, Uribe is grim enough on the basepaths that I am not counting on those.
