Dusty is giving him the day off because of the weather - Nefi Perez is starting at 3B and Hairston at 2B.

First he puts Perez at 2nd, so Jerry complains. Now he's putting Perez at 3rd. What is it about Dusty and Neifi? This seems awfully strange.

I realize it might just be a day off, but during Prior's comeback and during a time that the Cubs need their season to turn around already, I don't see how you can justify giving your best hitter the day off.

LMAO, I'm actually kind of surprised Dusty hasn't given him a look as closer. :-b

He might be an upgrade over Hawkins in the role.

BTW, there is now a sticky in the "Start/Bench" forum called "Riding the Pine" for daily updates of surpise benching such as this.

Great...the Mariners are off today, and Ramirez was going to be my substitute for Beltre (don't ask how that happened :-B

).

Gah, I'm not grabbing someone off the wire to replace him...guess I'll just have to live with having one less player's worth of at bats. :,-(

Is it me or has some of the luster wore off from his "General Dusty" days with the Giants? He came to the Cubbies with the reputation of being one of the best managers in the game, but now....? Personally I would not want him touching any team that I like. Couple his questionable decision making with the fact that he eats young pitchers alive, and you have someone one needs to raise an eyebrow when considering.
