He didn't play C at all last year, so he would have no eligibility because of that. So they would only have him eligible at his primary position, which is DH.
If they go by his last played positions he should be. If they just go by the last year, period, it may be as Curtis mentioned. I guess it depends on how they treat a year off.

I just checked: he is indeed catcher eligible. When a player skips a season, we go back to the previous season to find the position he played the most. DH is a weird case; I'm pretty sure we never conclude someone is primarily a DH, for better or worse. In that year he played catcher 26 times, and 1b 6 times.

Took him at 8.02 in the First Cafe Mock assuming he qualified there. His Yahoo player page had C/DH on it. Phew!

That seems about right since according to last years MDP that's where the 6th overall catcher went and that's probably where I'd put Martinez this year. He's 34 and coming off an injury and didn't have the power he used to have in his last full season at age 32. But at the same time, even if the average is down and the power stays the same as the last season he played, the RBI and runs should still be there.
