What's Next? WHIR Always!

Postby Jenken » Sun Aug 15, 2010 11:37 am

hey cafe, with the season beginning to hit crunch time, Id like to know if there are any glaring needs for my team for the stretch run

Pitching has been an issue lately, but with Carpenter now in the fold, I feel like I have four guys in JJ,Cahill,Myers and now Carpenter that I can rely on. Im middle of the road in saves, but have little interest in trying to climb much higher, so Ill take what I can get in that cat.

Im at the top of 4/5 O cats, the one that Im not at the top in being AVG. Im also at the top in SB, and I feel i have a decent amount of speed on my roster.

12 team, 1 yr roto, 6x6

My Roster:
C-Soto,B,Molina
1B-Loney,Ortiz,Davis
2B-Weeks
3B-Young,Sandoval
SS-Andrus
OF-Braun,CarGo,Markakis,Tabata,Brown,Jay

SP-JJ,Carpenter,Cahill,Myers,Jackson,Hughes, Niemann(DL)
RP-Gregg,Street

FAs available:

Bumgarner (very interested)
Dickey
Soriano (OF)
Bruce
Beckham
Volquez
Richard

All help very appreciated. Leave a link and I will surely get back to you

I would think strongly about Bumgarner. I read somewhere that the Giants aren't going to limit his innings strictly, they will just be "monitoring his workload." So if he makes a few adjustments, he could be really important for them down the stretch. If he clicks he would be great, but he has had his share of rookie struggles, and sometimes it is just one atrocious outing to ruin your season. As for the rest of the FA list, nothing really stands out above the players you already have. Beckham has been great recently (I held on to him for half the year, so I should know) but you can't really find a place for him to play since Sandoval is also heating up. Seems like you have a solid team going down the stretch. Love that outfield.

Help with mine?

Hey man thanks for the help with mine. I think you def should pick up Bumgarner and drop Brown. Your team looks pretty solid overall though.

Be careful, Bumgarner's on my team and there are worries as to whether he'll get shut down as he's reaching 150 innings. I'm praying that the Giants stay in the wildcard race and that they'll need Bumgarner for the playoff push. I would look at dropping Brown AND Jay. I also have Jay on my team, and the guy is a HITTER. But he simply doesn't really play against lefties so you're losing ABs. I'd say drop Jay and Brown and pick up Soriano and Bumgarner (for the time being).

Help me out if you can:
