14 Team Keeper...Roto League

Postby kretz330 » Mon Apr 07, 2008 4:23 pm

This is my first year in a 14 team keeper roto league. I traded some draft picks to some guys for some players they may cut to try and get a head start on some good prospects. I don't assume I'll finish anywhere higher than 10th at best but here is my team. We have a 23 man roster and a 17 man reserve/minor league roster and we can only make 12 roster moves in the season, excluding injuries.

C - Geovanny Soto, Dioner Navarro
1B-Mark Texiera
2B-Orlando Hudson
SS-Yuniesky Betancort
2B/SS-Mark Grudzielanek

P-Jeremy Bonderman

You will have a competitive team especially with 13 other teams but I don't see any championships in the future for you. You have a good handful of starting position players but you might want to pay attention to those who get streaky and ride them out while you can to get your extra points and be a contender.

This is why I dislike keeper leagues, having to bite a year just because you cant get the talented players. You should just grab up a bunch of young players and pan out the good ones for next year. Find the next Tulowitz or Braun, but im sure in a league that deep there are several other teams thinking the same thing. One way to be competitive nonetheless is to really play the numbers and start guys in good situations. GL

Decent team for a gigantic-rostered 14-teamer. I'm weary about your pitching, but I don't see what you can deal from your hitting to compensate. Take a look at the Yahoo Fantasy Sports homepage, and take a look at their Minor League Top Prospects list. Could provide some insight into your numbers game.
