Butler/Stras for Goldy/J-Zimm (WHIR)

Postby rjforlife » Wed Apr 24, 2013 1:09 am

10 team standard 5x5 H2H keeper. You can keep up to 6 guys. My team is slow and has lots of K's, but since the positions are all the same here I won't bother posting teams. I offered him Butler/Stras/Mujica for Goldy/Price, he counters with: (Prices are for next season and the following season)

I give:

Strasburg($20, $28) and Butler ($17, $20)

I get:

J-Zimmerman ($20, $28) and Goldschmidt ($14, $20)

I love Strasburg but he doesn't seem to be the K machine anymore, while Zimmerman seems to keep getting better. Butler is solid but fat and may have peaked last season. Goldschmidt also seems to just keep getting better, and hits in a great hitters park and offers great keeper value. I do tend to make trades to spice up my team, so let me know what you think of this one.

Just as a point of reference, all these players were kept. In the auction, Felix was $27, Cain $24, Hamels $22, Cliff Lee $21. This leads me to believe J-Zimm is likely not a keeper while Stras is but not great. Allen Craig went for $18 as a point of reference for Butler/Goldy.

Thanks for the look and drop a link, I'll respond.

Nope not even close, imo. Zimmerman isnt goin to have a high K/9 and I feel once the other hitters in KC lineup get to hitting Butler is goin to rake in alot more RBI's. Hold tight.

Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't do it. I think saying that Stras isn't a K machine anymore is a bit of an over reaction, yes he hasn't been mowing people down like crazy but it's only been 4 starts and he's still a kid, I more than expect him to turn it around.

I would hold what you got. Stras is going to be much better than Zimm and Butler will start producing again.

Yu Darvish- ($16, $20)

Matt Cain- ($28, $34)

Bumgarner- ($19, $23)

Matt Moore- ($18, $22)

Max Scherzer- ($10, $20)

Matt Harvey- ($11, $13)

Yu Darvish- ($16, $20)
still think you are laterally trading honestly.

If you can get Goldy and Darvish I'd strongly consider it.

I like either Darvish or MadBum. Either is a downgrade from Stras. Goldy might be a small upgrade from Butler, but there is still time for Butler to heat up. Close deal.

I'd consider Darvish, and Bumgarner. But truthfully, I think I'd rather have Stras and Butler than anyone else in that deal.

I think you stand still with what you have. I like Butler to get is going and Stras is the better pitcher.
