Which Trade Would You Rather Make? WHIR

Postby DaveClay12 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 3:28 pm

So, I'm in a league where you can keep up to 12 guys, using a pick 3 rounds up from where they were taken last year (Free Agent keepers lined up from the end of the draft, so 29th Rd., 28th, etc.), except for one "franchise" player (Strasburg is mine) who stays in the same draft slot year after year.

As you can see from my roster below, my pitching is in pretty good shape. I am looking for a 3rd baseman (I'm something of a position scarcity guy), and I have two trades in the works:

WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING TWO TRADES SHOULD I MAKE?

1) My Dickey for his Chase Headley, whom I'd keep in the 10th round.
2) My Bauer, and a draft concession of a few rounds in the teens, for someone else Will Middlebrooks, who was a FA, and I could keep at the end of the draft (assume the 25th round for him).

Both Dickey and Bauer would be 15th round keepers for me. Which do you think I should take (assuming they are both available), and why?

Leave a link, and I will, of course, help you out.

Thanks,

Dave

I like the first trade. Dickey is a great pitcher, but getting old. Maybe he has 2 more great years in him? Headley has a lot of potential and I think this is a fair trade.

1) My Dickey for his Chase Headley, whom I'd keep in the 10th round.

I would trade for Headley. Dickey is old and last year could be a fluke... but so could Headleys season.

Most intriguing for me is the Dickey-Headley swap.
I love Dickey, I think that he is not a fluke and is a top 5-10 fantasy pitcher. Headley is awesome though, and could get moved (which would boost him value ever higher).
However I might do Bauer for Middlebrooks. As a Sox fan, having followed him I think he's going to be great and a safer bet in fantasy than Bauer (especially this year).
It all hinges upon your opinion on Dickey. I buy Dickey.

I don't buy Dickey, and especially not moving to the AL. I would trade Dickey for Headley.

I actually do like Dickey, but I'd still trade him for Headley. ;-D
