I like the trade for you. While you are giving up the best player in Pedroia, the pieces you are getting back, are good. Hosmer is an upgrade over Lind even as he currently is, and if he improves (like he should), he will be a significant upgrade over Lind. Ackley isn't a bad second basemen to have, he was a disappointment last year, but he should see a bounce back in average. Losing Jackson kind of hurts, but you have Tavareas and Gose in your minors, so not a big loss. Hultzen adds more depth to your future pitching staff (though has a good deal of potential in a couple years) and Castellanos will see time in the outfield until one of Fielder or MCab gets moved to DH.
It's a good trade for you. You're giving up one of the best second basemen, a middling prospect and a servicable first basemen (only because it's an 18 team league) for a lot of potential talent coming back to you.
It is ok but I don't like doing these kinds of deals. You are giving up a top 25 player and getting a bunch of guys that have a ton of potential. In the end though you will be lucky if 2 of them become top 50 players. Maybe you get lucky and they all do but with prospects the odds aren't in your favor. Personally I would rather trade Pedroia for a top 50 guy and one or two prospects/under performing players like Hosmer. You limit your risk if you get a guy who is already pretty good and a couple guys who could be really good.

I am with MaudDib. Pedroia is the best player on your team. You are not getting back any proven players. In an 18 team league Pedroia may be a late first round or early second round pick. In this trade, even if everything breaks right, noone will be give you that type of value.
I would need to get back at least one proven stud along with bounce back guys and prospects if I am going to be giving up Pedroia.
Its not a terrible trade at all, think about age declining skill set (Peds is more of a well rounded performer) Love Castellanos as a 3b prospect only (will be a beast).
The rest well I like those but are a few years away.
The only way I'd consider this is if you don't plan on competing this year.
If Ackley were producing to his level of talent I'd jump all over this...matter of fact I don't care...I'd risk it.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
I'd pull the trigger on this one....I think the Hosmer and Ackley combination will more than make up for the difference in production you lose in Pedoria. And, Castellanos and Hultzin have tremendously more upside than Jackson. I like this trade a lot.
Tough to give up Pedroia, but I think with getting Hosmer and Ackley back you'll make out OK on the trade. Jackson and Lind don't do anything for me. I think Hosmer will pick it up this year and Ackley was doing better at the end of the season last year. I think it's a deal you do.

I can tell you Ackley and Hultzen are overrated. Decent players, but never top 50.

I like the potential for long term success if you make the trade, but often potential doesn't pan out. If you are building for the future, do the trade. If you think you have a chance to make it this year, stand pat.
