So, I am in the middle of my draft and my biggest glaring hole is 2B and there are really no decent 2B available, so I am in talks with a few teams on potential trades.
16 team dynasty league. 9x9 stats. h2h league.
Here is my team, so far:
Round 1: Josh Hamilton (4 years/11m) LF/CF Round 2: Stephen Strasburg (5yrs/9m) SP Round 3: Billy Butler (4yrs/6m) 1B Round 4: Brett Lawrie (5yrs/10m) 3B Round 5: Cliff Lee (4yrs/14m) SP Round 6: Zack Greinke (4yrs/10m) SP Round 7: David Freese (4yrs/5m) 3B Round 8: Tim Lincecum (4yrs/10m) SP Round 9: Nelson Cruz (4yrs/10m) LF Round 10: Jake Peavy (2yrs/2m) SP Round 11: Starling Marte (5yrs/600k) CF Round 12: Zack Cozart (5yrs/600k) SS Round 13: Nick Swisher (3yrs/5m) 1B/RF Round 14: Kyle Lohse (1yrs/1.4m) SP Round 15: JJ Putz (2yrs/6m) Round 16: Ryan Doumit (1yr/800k) C Round 17: Alexi Ogando (2yrs/3m) )SP Round 18: Jayson Werth (3yrs/6m) RF/CF Round 19: Rafael Betancourt (1yr/5m) RP Round 20: Jose Valverde RP (2yrs/6m) RP Round 21: Justin Morneau (3yrs/3m) 1B
So, here are the trade offers I have received.
A. I trade Ogando, 2nd round pick in 2014, and a PTBNL for Utley.
B. I trade Ogando and Butler for Utley (1yr/8m with a 10m option), Garza (4yrs/7m) and a prospect.
C. He has offered me Ian Kinsler (5yrs/15m) and is interested in these three: Lawrie, Strasburg, Hamilton. I am reluctant to trade Stras or Hamilton. Would Lawrie for Kinsler be a good deal for me?
D. I trade Billy Butler for either Infante (2yrs/2m) or Rickie Weeks (3yrs/7m) and one of Gaby Sanchez (3yrs/3m), Loney (2yrs/2m) or Jesus Guzman (2yrs/2m). Seems to be a pretty significant degradation at 1B. Not sure if its worth it.
E. Owner has told me he is willing to trade Brandon Phillips (3yrs/9m). He has expressed interest in Hamilton and asked me what it would take. I like Hamilton, but it the deal makes sense for my team, I would consider it. Here is his roster:
Carlos Santana (5yrs/11.5), David Ortiz (1yrs/6), Miguel Cabrera (5yrs/20m), Juan Francisco (2yrs/2m), Ian Desmond (3yrs/4m), Jimmy Rollins (2yrs/7.5m), JD Martinez (2yrs/2m), Matt Kemp (5yrs/21m), Alex Rios (2yrs/4m), Shin-Soo Choo (2yrs/8m), Doug Fister (2yrs/3m), Mike Minor (2yrs/2m), Matt Hairston (1yrs/800k), Jason Motte (3yrs/4m), Greg Holland (1yr/800k), Papelbon (2yrs/8m +10m option), Brian Wilson (3yrs/5m).
I know this is kinda long, but I don't wanna make the wrong decision as I am pretty new to dynasty leauges.
If this is a dynasty league, I wouldn't waste time on Chutley, especially not at those prices.
I'd consider Kinsler for Hamilton. While Hamilton is a better fantasy player in general, he's injury prone and year over year, you'd probably do alright in the end just having Kinsler on the field. And don't deal away Lawrie. He's got a lot of growing to do, but he is dynasty gold.
It's funny though, as I was reading over your post, the offer that stood out to me the most was option D, which is the one you seem most reluctant about. Butler for Weeks plus another player sounds pretty good to me. Weeks' overall numbers last year were crappy, but his 2nd half was solid. There are holes in his game, but at 2b, hes a good bet. Loney isn't anything special, but he'll be fit well into the game plan of Joe Maddon in Tampa.
If you've to a sec, I'd appreciate some input on an offer I'm facing...
I don't really care for any of those. Kinsler for Lawrie makes the most sense in the short term, but I would not want to be on the back end of that Kinsler contract. Does Seager have 2B eligibility? What would it take to nab him? Perhaps you can talk the Phillips owner into taking Butler straight up. He's trying to stick you with that Hamilton talk.

In the last 3 years, Kinsler has played just 15 more games then Hamilton. Kinsler isn't a lock.
I wouldn't do any of the deals. The only one that is even close is Kinsler/Lawrie, but i would pass.

The Kinsler/Lawrie deal is the only one worth considering and while Kinsler will probably give you a better return this year I wouldn't want to be the guy paying Kinsler $15 a year 2 years from now when I could have had Lawrie for $10. Stick with Lawrie.
I agree that the only one even worth looking at is Kinsler\Lawrie. Probably would pass as well, but it is not that clear cut considering 2b is so weak a position in fantasy.
That said...Lincecum for 4\10M in round 8 over Cruz?...really? You woould have to pay me to take him for $1. He actually went in the top 120-130 players?
