Avila or Jesus Montero?

Postby jcave24 » Tue May 15, 2012 6:49 pm

I currently have Avila and am 7th of 10 on waivers, the only guy looking for a catcher right now is at 8 (He has Pierzynski).

I'm considering making the switch, since I'm concerned about Avila's knees given that he's been resting quite often and the manager just said he'd take more days off going forward. That and I like Montero's power potential more, even in the behemoth that is Safeco.

Thoughts?

I like Montero (partial as an owner). Kid has too much potential and your right, Avila might see less time and Montero will get more AB's than any catcher in the game considering his DH spot.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I have Zambrano, but I was planning on holding onto him for his next few starts to see if this is a rebirth or what. Other than that, its Rios, Craig, or Trout in my outfield, all of whom are playing now due to Chris Young still being on the DL.

In thinking more about it, that Zambrano spot is one that I keep open for streaming options. So maybe I could drop him and hope that he's still an option next time around when I have more time to make that decision? I think Avila and Montero might BOTH be better options that Rios (in that Util spot) at this juncture, so maybe either dropping Rios or Zambrano and hoping for the best is the way to go? Thoughts?

don't know how deep your league is to know if dropping rios is ok, but considering montero just got dropped i'm assuming it's 1 C and 10-11 teams... he really should be owned, and so should avila. if you pitching is very solid, i would drop zambrano, hold montero and avila for a week and see what happens. avila obviously has great upside considering last year but i think he hits 260 this year tops, and montero could easily bat 285-290, so it's probably the better choice.

help with mine?
