J.Johnson for Ryan Braun

Postby Devil Doc » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:21 am

Its a 10 team, keeper league (we get to keep 6).

If I take this trade, being that Johnson is probably my #1 pitcher, is it going to hurt me too much?

Thanks for the help on mine. I love this deal for you as Braun would be a huge upgrade to your OF. Johnson is clearly your best pitcher however you seem to have a lot of depth. Johnson's injury could linger for the rest of the year. I'd definitely do this deal.

It's a tremendous deal for you even if JJ were healthy. Braun is looking like he may be a top 3 pick next year and even a 100% JJ, with zero future injury risk, might crack the top 25. Jump all over this before you lose it.

Hope you already accepted. This deal is a joke and vetoable in my book. Congrats to you if it gets through.

Agree with all the previous posts. You have a lot of young depth at SP, you can afford to deal for a solid power upgrade to your OF. Definitely pull the trigger.

Even if Josh Johnson was healthy, pitchers are not valued nearly as high as hitters. Hitters compete for all categories, starting pitchers inherently compete in less categories (saves, holds, et al.). Also, hitters play in 5x the games, or more, so if they have a bad night, it has a negligible effect on the season. Ryan Braun is looking like a top 3 player this season, it automatically gives him more value than any pitcher in the league no matter what. Pitching stats are fairly easy to piecemeal together in comparison.

No brainer. Top bat over top pitcher every time.
