Hi all - longtime lurker, first time poster. I'm trying to make a decision on this trade. This is a 16-team dynasty league with a deep minors roster, H2H, 6x6 (OPS, holds). If it would be helpful to post my entire roster I could do that, but basically I have Starlin Castro and Stephen Drew, and I'm looking to trade Drew. The best offer I've gotten so far is Matt Cain. Not a huge Cain fan, as he always seems to outperform his peripherals, but we have 30-man MLB rosters/30 man minors rosters, with 5 SP/5 RP started, daily changes, and no generic P spots, so you really can't have too deep a starting rotation, although mine is very good already.
Thoughts? I'm a first time poster here, but I know a fair amount about fantasy baseball - leave a link and I'll give my input.
I do like Matt Cain, but then again I like a lot of NL West pitchers. however, with the numbers Drew is putting up right now you should be able to try and get someone better. I think Cain is still good, but you can always try to see if you can get the maximum. I wouldn't put much into his last start where he gave up 6 runs at Colorado. the K haven't been there much this season, but I wouldn't worry about that either. I'd say try for more knowing if nothing else you could still fall back to Cain?

In a big dynasty league where you keep your entire roster, AND you have minor league players (guys like Iglesias, Green, Franklin already owned most likely), a top SS like Drew is tough to come by. Cain is decent but do you really need to SP help? I'd look at 3B, personally. Drew carries some extra value in a league like that, and if you can't do better than Cain, I'd hang tight. It won't take long for whatever manager is running out Cliff Pennington or Reid Brignac on a daily basis to realize that they've got a black hole at that position and cough up something like 120% of Drew's value.
i agree with the majority here. i'm a big matt cain fan, but in a dynasty league, drew is worth a whole lot more than cain. and you still have the space to start him right now, so there's really no rush to deal him until you get a better offer.
Straight up, I like the trade but you have so many pitchers that I dont know if this will be beneficial for you. If you could get a batter in return, it would be more preferable.
