7x7 Draft strategy with OPS

Postby urbanbreez » Sat Mar 05, 2011 1:12 am

12 team h2h

Batters Stat Categories:
Runs (R), Hits (H), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)

Pitchers Stat Categories:
Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Strikeouts per Nine Innings (K/9), Quality Starts (QS)

OPS.... does anyone else play in a league with with that category?

I've got $1000 on the line and will gladly split it with anyone that will aid my draft strategy. i'll payPal you if you're badass.

I'm thinking power early rounds 1-3. i'm targeting dunn's big hr ass. will reach for him with these categories. problem with that?

then...hits/hitters, with high average (OPS) 4-6

then, i'm stuck. what about taking one solid ace known for quality starts - then grabbing top closers before returning to power. CAN I WIN THIS LEAGUE BY BASICALLY PUNTING STARTING PITCHING???

check my roster slots:

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util,
SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

i swear on my unborn first child i will help with your question if you help with mine. leave a link.

I never think punting starters is necessarily a good strategy, but this year SP's with upside are very deep, so if you can grab one ace, MAYBE two in a middle round, you can sprinkle in the upside guys in the later rounds and make it stick. This is my most familiar strategy, it's the way I'll normally draft, agreeing with what you have already written.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

your cafe icons and recent promotion demand my attention,
can you recommend some of these "sprinkle sp's with upside" that i should be looking for in rounds 8-15? note that K has three parts in my 7 pitching categories.

seriously appreciate the help.
