Trade Advice Catchers (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:57 pm

Currently in first place by 400pts. 15 team Auction Keeper League. Were we start 2-C 2-1B 2-2B 2-3B 2-SS 6-OF 8-P, weekly. I just took a blow to my Catcher position, (mind you I had a very nice tandem in V-Mart and Santana) Carlos Santana just suffered an ugly injury. Now I have him looked up for $15 at the next 2 seasons. Does this injury hamper his future??? I have been offered the following.

C - C.Santana $15 (1) (two years left at that price)
FOR
C - M.Montero $2 (2) (one year left at that price)

Now obviously the other team is thinking about next season and the year after, Is this a deal I should look into?

I also have Ryan Doumit on the DL, (he was my backup) should be ready this weekend, however the Bucco's just traded for Snyder (who is available on waivers but have to out bid others this coming weekend) meaning Doumit might see a reduced amount of playing time, should I be concerned in getting a second catcher behind V-Mart or should I just ride out the storm, and hope my large lead will pay off. about 9-10 weeks left. In a 2 start Catcher league, a tandem of V-Mart and Doumit/Snyder can't be that bad......can it.

Really need some advice here.....thanks

What happened to him, I'll have to check the replays.
C.Santana is still the best option, hang onto him.
Def. try to get Snyder so you'll have that situation handcuffed. Both of those options are quality #2 catchers.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

Don't let go of Santana. I would honestly just stash him away on the DL and hope that Doumit/V-Mart can get you through, which I believe will. Tough break for the Santana owners out there like us.

You really have to wait for the MRI to see how it may hinder his future performance, but I'd probably stash him on the DL like the above poster has said.

Thanks guys, but M.Montero aint chop liver.....and for $2 that is a steal.

But I agree, if Santana test out ok over the next few weeks, then I might have dodged a HUGE blow......the guy is golden in a keeper league.

You have to wait until the MRI results and a timeline for his recovery is set. He will almost certainly be out for the rest of this year, but you need to see what impact this will have on next season.

However, Miguel Montero has the potential to be just as good next season as Santana does. And for $2 compared to Santana's $15, that's a huge deal. I might take this no matter the outcome of the MRI.

And as a Pirates fan, I'm sure you know that Doumit probably won't be playing a whole lot the rest of this season. Snyder was already announced as the starter even when Doumit gets back. And a side note, I just saw Doumit play last night in his rehab game. He DH'ed, went 0-4 and did not look good at all.

Help with mine?

Montero at 2 dollars ALLLL DAYY. 13 dollar variance? Without a doubt. Just more flexibility all around. There is no way Santana out does Montero by 13 dollars next year.

Id go with Montero too and spend the extra $ elsewhere. I agree that there's no way Santana outperforms Montero by 13 bucks.
