Got offered cole hamels for an unkeepable ichiro suzuki in my 10-team yahoo roto..... My team is off to a pretty terrible start, so I'm kinda looking to do something here. I still plan to be a factor this year (its a money league) but the keeper implications are nearly as important (6 x 6 with ops. and qual. starts)
Thoughts?

I'd do it and then try and trade a pitcher for a hitter since your pitching depth will be insane.

I think it's fair but Ichiro is gonna kill your sb. Are their steals on the wire? Can the owner give you some steals back?
Help with mine???

There are a couple of the usual SB-only suspects floating around on the wire methinks.... On value, I think this is an easy one with ichiro basically being a rental for him. Problem is, he's one of the stronger teams early on and I'd hate to be cutting my own throat down the road. Tough call....
Thanks for the help so far....anyone else?

I think Hamels is the way to go. He is undervalued so grab him and get rid of Ichiro

If you can't keep Ichiro, then the deal might be worth it. I tend to value hitters over pitchers, as hitters (and in particular Ichiro) are more reliable. That being said, I would probably pull the trigger on this deal.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help with mine. Hamels has been stepping it back up and Ichiro, while still fantastic, is getting up there in age. The fact that you can't keep him also adds to the value of this trade. I'd do it.

I have to disagree with everyone. I know Hamels has longer keeper value. However, you stated that you wanted to place this year and I think the loss of Ichiro to your AVG and SBs would be tough for you to make up barring getting steals off the waiver (which could be prevelant and if they are then a yes to go).
