KEEP great value pitchers or decent priced studs? WHIR

Postby iFantasize » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:30 am

9 team roto league. We only get 4 keepers. $250 cap.
H, AVG, R, HR, 3B, SB, BB, SO
W, CG, K, ERA, WHIP, SV

Should I keep my cheap quality pitchers
$7 Felix Hernandez
$3 Josh Johnson
$1 Clayton Kershaw
$10 Tommy Hanson

Or should I keep my decently priced high profile stud hitters?
$27 Alex Rodriguez
$29 Chase Utley
$15 Curtis Granderson
$11 Kevin Youkillis

To give you a price perspective I think if Arod and Utley are re-auctioned they would go for $40ish. I got them cheap because of their hip surgeries last year.

I'm keeping Troy Tulowitzski for $4 so I need to figure out who my other 3 are. Please help. WHIR!!

Arod, Utley, and Felix

In a 9-team league with only 4 keepers, forget "value". Keep your best players.

Depending on the actual salary cap. (what is the cap...). I'm leaning towards "value" not best player...
Felix, Kershaw, Johnson, and use your newfound cap space and go right back after AROD and Utley again in the draft.
I do agree with the argument tho with only 9 teams you go for quality, but hey.. those guys ARE quality. they won't go that cheap again. Even if you pay more for AROD and company, you should be able to afford it.

We have a $250 cap.

Another option I am debating is to sell the rights to Utley and ARod to another team that needs keepers for ~$10 each. This would increase my cap space to $270 for this upcoming year.

Wow nice picks.

I'd keep Felix, ARod, Utley and Tulo. That leaves you at $67. Thats an incredible value for those 4 players. thats likes 17 a player. I'd take that and call it a day. Hurts to throw Johnson back in for $3 but thats just me. Get your 3 players in ARod, Utley and Tulo in position scarcity and the rest goes into positions where u can make a raking.

Wow nice going! I would like to keep A-Rod for that cheap.
Also, Felix, Kershaw, and Johnson are steals at that cheap, and are Studs in and of themselves in my opinion. Only one is a Team supporting ace RIGHT now, but I think this year, they will really shine with more maturity.
