Big Trade With Direct Rival

Postby Swagger » Mon Aug 03, 2009 11:48 am

The trade is

My - Mauer, Mark DeRosa and Carlos Beltran
His - Felix, Buerle and Damon

Beltran is on the bench right now and I can replace DeRosa in the line up as long as my team stays healthy. The biggest hit comes from putting posada in place of mauer (although if sandoval gets two more starts at catcher that would eliminate that need)

I'm in need of pitching but I feel like I'm giving up a lot here and it doesn't help that this team is my direct competition. Our league is set up with two divisions and my team and his team are the top two teams in the one division. He has been the strongest team this year and he just made another trade - he got Sabathia for Mark Reynolds (who was on his bench)

This is a standard cbs H2H points league

Here is my roster

C - Mauer
1B - Votto
2B - Pedroia
3B - Zimmerman
SS - Zobrist
OF - DeRosa
OF - Carlos Lee
OF - A. Soriano
U - J. Dye

SP - De La Rosa
SP - Lester
SP - Happ
SP - J. Santana
SP - Romero

RP - Hoffman
RP - Soria

Bench

Beltran
Posada
Sandoval
J. Peavy
Cabrera
C-McCann
1B- P.Fielder
2B-Cano
3B-Longoria
SS-Hanley
OF-Crawford - Kemp - Upton
U- C. Beltran(OF)
SP-Kershaw, Halladay, Lester, T.Hunter, Liriano
RP-Papelbon - Rivera
Bench-Webb, Carmona, Vargas, L.Scott, Andrus

I think you are giving up too much, especially at C. DeRosa is solid and anything you get from Beltran would be a bonus. This is just my opinion but I think you are buying high on Felix and Buehrle and I am not a Damon fan.

Thanks for help on mine.

I am not a fan of this trade. You will sorely miss Mauer's production. Trying to fix your starting pitching problem by trading away your catcher gives you a whole new problem which is much harder to fix.

Help on mine? viewtopic.php?t=395206

not a fan.

Damon is slowing by the week...i cant remember last time he stole a bag (i own him). and Buerhles usual big couple weeks seem to be done.

plus as good as king felix has been...i sorta feel hes due for a dip the last couple months...no real stats to back that up, just gut feeling.

thx for help on mine

I personally don't like the trade because DeRosa and Sandoval have multiple eligibility which is great flexibility. Plus Mauer's production is quite helpful especially for a C.

I get the feeling you're paying too much. I would aim for slightly lower ranked pitcher.

Also can't you put Beltran on your DL and pick up another SP for the meantime?
