Thanks for all the help thus far. I guess I should also mention a couple other things I forgot in the initial post. First off, I can't consolodate guys I don't plan on keeping for a better keeper. So, I can only deal from the 6 players I announce as keepers (which is part of the intrigue of dealing a keeper for another keeper and an upgrade in draft pick).
Second, I like the suggestion of dealing Peavy for Granderson, the pick upgrade and an arm, but the problem is, if I got an arm back, I'd have to replace someone else as a keeper. But, my thinking is actually that by dealing Peavy for Granderson and the upgrade in pick, I'll be able to select another arm at that pick (such as Adam Wainwright, who is actually one of my targets, namely in round 3).
I'm also glad to see some suggestions of keeping Upton or Hamels over Peavy, because though I didn't state it in the initial post, the thought has crossed my mind. I do think I'd get cold feet, but it is something in the back of my mind.
Also, just to give some food for thought as to why I'd be willing to deal a top notch arm like Peavy, and throw another back in the draft, Hamels, here is a list of pitchers that will be going back in the draft (keep in mind I own picks 9,10, 15 as well as potentially two picks in the 3rd round if I moved Peavy for Granderson and the upgraded selection): Hamels Lackey Billingsley Liriano Shields Kazmir Harden Lester Cain Danks Gallardo Daisuke Matsuzaka (most likely, though not officially) Sheets Burnett Wainwright Price Kershaw and tons of others.
Most owners keep bat heavy, and draft bat heavy early, so if I deal Peavy for Granderson, I'm likely to get a better bat then would be available at my picks. Considering a handful of bats are likely to fly off the board before I pick, I should have my choice of two of the aforementioned starters (instead of one of the starters and a lesser bat).
With all that said, any changed advice? Thanks for all the help thus far, and leave some links and I'd be happy to get to them.
I love Halladay, but I don't like him pitching alot of game against the AL East. Hamels is coming into his own now, so I would keep him along with Upton.
i would try and package like halladay and upton for more elite position player... it seems like they both have quite a bit of value and you should be able to get someone pretty good
I'd keep Upton, namely because he's set to break out next season, coming back from labrum surgery. That said, Peavy and a pick for Granderson doesn't leave you with equal value. Peavy helps you in multiple categories, Granderson gives you 1-2 tops.
Thanks for more help, and I hate to bump, but most of the last few posts have suggested packaging players, so I'll stress this again. I can't package players unless they are announced as part of my 6 keepers. Anyone not included amongst the announced 6 keepers is not trade eligible. Therefore, if I don't intend on keeping Hamels or Upton, I can't simply deal those two and another player I did intend on keeping for a keeper upgrade. Anymore insight would be greatly appreciated.
1B Albert Pujols 2B Ian Kinsler 3B Evan Longoria RF/CF Josh Hamilton CF B.J. Upton SP Cole Hamels
I would keep those 6 guys. I'd only keep 1 pitcher since it looks like so many good ones will be available in the draft. First I was worried you might have 2 CFers, but it looks like Hamilton played 34 games in RF last year so you could move him there if your rules allow it.

I concur with this 100%. I think you have some great keepers and are limited in your ability to upgrade due to your trade rules.
Thanks for your great help on my question!
When it comes to exaggerating, I always give 110%.
