12 team 7x7 (add OBP, TB and IP, Holds) H2H keeper league (10 keepers)...we start 5 SP's and 5 RP's.
Here are my top options:
Ryan Howard Brandon Phillips Evan Longoria Alexei Ramirez (SS, 2B, OF eligible) Chipper Jones Carl Crawford Vlad Guerrero Josh Hamilton Roy Halladay CC Sabathia
These are the ones I've picked so far...I also have Jay Bruce Rafael Furcal Chris Young (OF) JJ Hardy
I'd really like to try and trade any mix of the following four along with either Chipper or Vladdy for another solid SP keeper since we start so many...
any thoughts would be appreciated...and please leave a link to yours!
I agree it wouldn't hurt to pick up another solid pitcher since you start so many. You definitely have some good talent to trade with. Bruce could be a good trade because everyone thinks so highly of him, and since he's not on your top 10 it wouldn't effect you too much
I agree. It is always worth while to see if you can do a 2 for 1 trade to better your keepers. With Bruce in the mix you should be able to come out on top of almost any trade.

Tough call, but I would move Chipper. I'm assuming he's holding down a utility slot with Longoria in the mix. It's always best to have open utility slots going into a draft.
I would target Chad Billingsley. He just had surgery after breaking his leg, but he's expected to be throwing by spring training.

funny you mention Billingsley...i was thinking about targeting him as well. Would an offer of Bruce/Chipper or Bruce/Vlad be too much for Billingsley though?
I'm not completely sold on Billingsly, I haven't looked much at him lately though. With that said, I would think Bruce and Vlad might be too much. You could shoot for an ace with that combo though... Vlad is generally pretty solid and if Bruce is as good as people say he'll be a star.
I've put in an offer of Vlad, Chipper and Furcal for J.Santana. I think i'm overpaying, but in the long run i'm getting rid of some of my aging players...not sure what their keeper value is though as compared to Santana's? this way I could keep the younger J.Bruce over Chipper...
anyone else have any thoughts as to who I might shoot for with a package like this?
I think Bruce is the better option than Chipper, considering upside. However, I agree with everyone that Bruce is more intriguing trade bait, better netting you a 2-1 trade that goes in your favor. If you can't trade him, I still think you have to stick with him, knowing that by picking Chipper you are in a way rolling the dice on his age and health.
I think you are overpaying in that deal so I would ask for a draft pick back, say 3rd round? This will help replinish some of the hitting you are losing. I like your 10 keepers as is. If you can make a 2 for 1, do it, but I would try and include only one keeper and one of your close calls. Trading 2 keepers is a shaky buisness to me. Chipper is a tough player to have because of his injuries, but when healthy he is always money. If you have 2 DL spots or 2 util spots, there is no need to undersell him here. I would think offering Chipper straight up for any of these aces would be even or just slightly favoring one side over the other: Peavy, Volquez, Haren, Billingsly, Lackey, Kazmir, Beckett....
Some of the latter players Chipper is probably more valuable than, but those are some targets. I would try and acquire Lester on the cheap if possible - I think he is about to emerge as a premier starter for the next 5-7 years.
