I know there have been a couple of recommendation threads about books but figured we could do this similar to the movies thread. Just give your last book a rating and maybe let us all know what "kind" of book it is as far as fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, etc and maybe a quick one or two sentences on what it was about.

If you want you can go ahead and rate the last few books you've read since you can't go through books as fast as you can movies....at least I can't !+)

I'm so off and on about reading it drives me nuts, but I'm getting back into it again.

Anyway, have at it!

I'm currently reading "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt (Fiction/Literature), thanks to Cu, and its a pretty solid read so far. Can't really rate it yet but based on the reviews and what I've read of it so far its something I may well recommend!

I read 90% of "The Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield(Fiction/Literature) because I ended up seeing the movie(300) before I finished the book. I won't go back and finish the book because it seemed to be very similar to the movie and I know how that ends. 7/10

The last book I've read fully was "First King of Shannara" by Terry Brooks (Fantasy) and plan on reading the whole series. It was a pretty solid book and can't wait to get back into the series, though it looks like I have a couple books to read before it. Anyway, its your "typical" fantasy with trolls, magic, elves, skull bearers, etc 7.5/10

The 5 People You Meet in Heaven. This is by Mitch Albom it was a very good book, the title says it all. It is a shorter book and a very fast enjoyable read. Though the title mentions Heaven, fear not this is not a religious book. I really like the fact that Albom is a sports reporters but also understands different that there are other important things in life. 9/10

Earlier this summer i read Turning Angel by Greg Isles. If anybody is unfamiliar with this author you should check him out he creates great images and always leaves the reader wanthing more. Turning Angel was a thriller about a small town in the south in which a 46 yr old Doctor has an affair with a highschool girl, who turns up naked and dead in the river. The book touches on many issues- drugs,race,politics, small towns disappearing. Very fast read. 9/10

I'm currently working on One More day by Mitch Albom. Will rate once i'm done

ooh, this is tough b/c I am reading Rambo and the Dalai Lama for a Tae Kwon Do class and am highly conflicted with it. MrsAcidRock and AcidDaughter are headed out of town next week so I am hoping to whip through it when they split but it is GRUELING....

I just read "A Season on the Brink" by John Feinstein for the first time. If anyone on here's a big college basketball fan or would just be interested in going behind the scenes of a Bob Knight-coached team, this book is outstanding. Entertaining all the way through.
