If I had known the Red Sox were going to score 28 runs in the two games before they faced our Friday streamer, I probably would have reconsidered. I actually did on my personal team, but Streaming Sleepers still took the hit. Luckily Ryan Vogelsong provided eight innings of one run ball the previous day, while Justin Zimmerman and Bud Norris were solid on Saturday (Norris’s start was moved up a day). Our season ERA had dipped down to 3.57 before Porcello did his best to blow it up; let’s see where we are at now.

Monday

Bartolo Colon (NYY) @ OAK 34%

Monday provides a full schedule of games with plenty of streaming options, but the Yankees hefty (that’s putting it err, lightly) veteran should be the best bet. Colon’s 34% ownership rate amazes me. Perhaps owners get caught up on his physique and not the facts. Colon’s controversially repaired shoulder and elbow have allowed him to throw his fastball in the mid-90s, rejuvenating his career. His last start was a bump in the road, but he did cruise through five innings before running into trouble. Even with his last outing, Colon has a solid 3.77 ERA (3.16 before the outing) and 56 strikeouts in 57.1 IP. In addition to pitching well, Colon has a strong offense behind him which should provide more wins than most waiver wire pitchers are privy to, and if you’ve been following us this year you know wins can be hard to come by. Look for him to reverse our luck and pick up a win on Monday.

Options: Jake Arrieta @ SEA, Doug Fister vs BAL, Charlie Morton @ NYM.

I like Blackburn today. He’s been pitching pretty well for the last month and the Tigers aren’t that great of an offense.

Blackburn didn’t do well today, neither did Brad Penny. It was a wild day, indeed. Tigers struggling vs the worst team in baseball.
