The Can of Corn – Show 9

By Michael Stephens

Welcome to The Can of Corn, hosted by Nate Davis and Michael Stephens! This week, the boys from the Cafe’s own fantasy baseball podcast decided to throw you a changeup: record the show in a timely fashion (which admittedly has been a struggle this month), and then have some trouble getting it published. But that’s all in the past now as we have a great show for you this week, brimming with injury news/updates, rookie tracking and much, much more heading into the MLB All-Star break in a little over a week. Want the latest on Jason Heyward or Pedro Alvarez? We’ve got that! Want tips on the hottest and coldest players in the league over the last week? We’ve got that too? Or, if you just want to hear two yahoos talk baseball and find new and different ways to make a competition out of everything fantasy baseball, we can help there as well! Whatever you’re after we promise to bring it with this show, so grab your glove and head for the outfield, because here comes The Can of Corn!

HOT CORNER (14:55)
• Updates on previous weeks’ props
• This one’s simple, Vlad or MCab?
• How many pros make it to 20 taters by next week?
• Who leads the AL in batting next week? Nate doesn’t Cano…
• Which stopper stops the most this time around?
• In honor of the last week (we hope) where we have to hear the phrases “max player”, “max guy” and “max contract”

• Rundown of action from three weeks ago, and up-to-date season standings (Nate on a roll, while Michael fighting to get back to .500)
• Michael picks on his “hometown” favorites
• Nate picks a full slate this week, uh oh!

• Five-tool Player of the Week – back to doing some good ole impaling in the AL West
• Honorable mention – Another seemingly homer-ish pick, but again it’s very much deserved!
• Tool of the Week – When your first appearance of the year is in this section, you fail at fantasy baseball…
• Honorable mention – A bad outing and subsequent meltdown that lead to a trip to the restricted list will get you in the bottom two for sure
