The Can of Corn – Show 10

By Michael Stephens

Welcome to The Can of Corn, hosted by Nate Davis and Michael Stephens! Just when you were starting to think you’d gotten rid of us, we’re back! After a couple of weeks of unavoidable commitments that made recording impossible, the guys at the Cafe’s own fantasy baseball podcast have returned with a fervor the likes of which hasn’t been seen around here lately (we promise)! This week’s show is filled to the brim with up-to-the-minute injury news and player updates, rookie developments and even vulture save candidates in the coming weeks (along with your favorite weekly segments like The Hot Corner, Battle of the Wits and Tools of the week, of course), so don’t miss out on the longest, and best, show of the 2010 season! It’s time to grab your glove and head for the outfield, because here comes The Can of Corn!

• E-mails/Tweets/PMs: all we have to do is disappear, and the listener contact returns? Go figure!
• In the News: a bit dated, but we had to beat out chests about the newest Mariners’ star (in the making)
• Rookie Watch: the pitchers are pitching, and the hitters are (mostly) hitting, so everyone wins! (6:18)
• Injuries: turns out that when you don’t record for a few weeks, the injuries REALLY pile up… (8:30)
• Injury updates: lots of big names on this list too
• Returning to the Field: three bats and three arms on the way back (one guy has already made it!) (11:08)
• Vulture saves – you’d think we’d get tired of talking about this guy and his blowups, right? WRONG! (12:06)
• Hot hitters and hurlers (13:04)
• And their frigid counterparts
• Cafe Talk – 4 topics of interest (and our shameless pimping in their posts) (15:18)
Cafe Games – well, what are you waiting for? Get your butts over there and play already!

HOT CORNER (19:08)
• Updates on previous weeks’ props
• Who saves the week?
• Can he really lead the MLB in homers for the whole season?
• Getting doubled up like this REALLY hurts…
• Chasing MCab
• How many fantasy football leagues is too many at this point in the offseason?

• Rundown of action from three weeks ago, and up-to-date season standings (Both guys over .500 for the first time this year!)
• Michael picks the hot hand. Weird, right?
• Nate likes anyone hosting the Marineros…

• Five-tool Player of the Week – from the bottom of the scrap heap to the top of it
• Honorable mention – it’s about time this guy gets the recognition he deserves!
• Tool of the Week – ditto
• Honorable mention – Same name, same team, different guy…sort of…
