The Can of Corn – NL Central Preview

By Michael Stephens

Welcome to The Can of Corn, hosted by Michael Stephens and Darren Shimp! Five teams down and 25 more to go – now that we have checked off the World Champs’ division right off the bat, we can get down to the nitty gritty! This week we will traipse through ever-so-large NL Central, examining all six of the teams and their news, developing situations, projected lineups/rotations and baseline statistics that can be expected from its players in 2009. In this 37-minute-long beast of a divisional preview, you will hear the first bold Can of Corn prediction of the year (maybe in the Reds’ preview?), as well as Michael almost denouncing his fandom for the lovable losers of the Pacific Northwest. So tune in, grab your glove and head for the outfield, because here comes the Can of Corn!

In a shameless ploy for inter-site synergy, there will be copious refers from one medium to the other so we can fill your fantasy void with everything you want to know about all 30 MLB teams. Let’s continue with the NL Central!

Check out the other completed divisional previews:
NL East
NL West
AL East
AL Central
AL West

The format of these divisional previews doesn’t allow for our usual amount of segments and slapstick pop culture references, but if you find yourself missing “Frozen Ropes”, “Battle of the Wits” and more, never fear because our draft special will be airing within the next two weeks with all the goodies you are used to! And after that, of course, you can look forward to a new an improved version of the Can of Corn every week during the regular season. Buckle up for 30-plus shows, because here we go!
