Being a Cardinals fan, I remember a little third baseman named Fernando Tatis who ripped 34 home runs and had 107 runs driven in back in 1999. Since then, he hasn’t come close to those numbers again. Is Tatis back to his old form? Probably not, but he is very hot for the Mets. In his last ten games he has posted 8 runs, 4 home runs and 11 runs driven in, while batting a hot .351. This can help any fantasy owner right now.
The outlook for Tatis is kind of a grey area. One reason is that the Mets have been rumored to be targeting Jason Bay and Raul Ibanez for trade, which would hurt Tatis’ playing time if it happens. Another reason is that he can get ice cold at anytime. But with Moises Alou out for the season and Ryan Church being on the DL for much of the season, Tatis does have a great chance to get solid playing time for the rest of the season. My advice is for owners in deeper leagues pick this guy up right now if you need another outfielder. For standard leagues, put him on the watch list and see if the Mets make any moves between now and the trade deadline.
