Sleeper Watch

For some reason, in spite of a nasty slider and a fastball that can hit 96 mph, Dennis Tankersley (SP, San Diego Padres) hasn’t been getting too much love from the fantasy baseball community. In the NL LABR draft, for instance, he went for the minimum bid of $1. Assuming you can get him for a similar price in an NL-only or deep mixed keeper league, Tankersley could pay nice dividends. Despite allowing a grand slam in his first spring training outing, he still has a good chance of earning the fifth spot in the Padres’ rotation and could post respectable numbers this season, with better things still to come. If the hot names like Beckett or Prior are overpaid for in your league, take a shot on this kid.
