Another great young Reds outfielder after last year’s Adam Dunn show? Believe it or not, we feel Austin Kearns has the skills to be even better. His struggles at the AA level were at least partially the result of an injured thumb; his performance in the Arizona Fall League, which included a staggering .371 average, seems to be a better indicator of what this kid is capable of doing. There’s a good chance Kearns will begin the season in the minors, but he won’t stay there for long. As with all rookies, Kearns is certainly not a sure thing, but so far, we like what we’ve seen.
